A handful of people create hundreds of accounts to troll chat via follower messages with inappropriate usernames, a growing problem. The follower metrics are also being skewed by all these fake accounts since the spam followers can't be deleted. Email verification isn't sufficient defense since email addresses can be bot-generated en masse and verified. Any creative solutions to keep followers more real and engaging? A proactive community discussion before this problem rages out of control. |

I agree this can be a problem. Allowing streamers and mods to force unfollow would get the message across that trolling with inappropriate usernames and multiple accounts is not acceptable. Definitely an issue that should be addressed.
Maybe the easiest solution is to allow streamers & potentially their mods to force usernames to unfollow. It sounds unfriendly, but I don't think streamers would abuse this power. Most streamers want more followers, but not fake or spammy ones. Ability to disable follow messages in chat temporarily via a toggle might also be helpful during these troll episodes. Maybe IP address checks/slowing or other more advanced means could be coded to reduce less technical troll account makers & bots.
